Context:

In EDLIT 731, we had the task of selecting, developing, administering and interpreting results from a range of assessment tools in school based staff development session.  We had to focus on a learning standard, determine relevant assessment tools that assessed literacy growth of all students, and analyze the assessment data in an engaging presentation format.

Reflection:

By presenting the material to an audience of fellow educators it was important to compellingly explain the relevance of the selected assessment tools for the purpose of assessing literacy growth of all students.  I chose to focus on the standards for reading literature in grade K-2 and presented a variety of assessment tools to analyze student literacy growth such as: checklists, observations, dictations, book discussions, and rubrics.  I also included visuals aids to represent what a reading literature checklist form of assessment would look like.
