MA Dance Education Candidate at Hunter College
K-12 Public School and Studio Based Dance Educator
“The most necessary task of civilization is to teach people how to think. It should be the primary purpose of our public schools. The mind of a child is naturally active, it develops through exercise. Give a child plenty of exercise, for body and brain. The trouble with our way of educating is that it does not give elasticity to the mind. It casts the brain into a mold. It insists that the child must accept. It does not encourage original thought or reasoning, and it lays more stress on memory than observation.”

I suggest that in your reflection section, you list this quote again, and reflect on how dance does not "insist that a child must accept," rather ......"

Keep color consistent?
Larger font for the quote - thank you!

I suggest you use a larger font for the quote - maybe just a little bigger. Also, I think the picture should be larger. It's a nice shot, but not "dancey." Is this the image you want to portray. It's fine if it is, you just need to decide how you want to represent "you" as an artist/educator.

Thank you for your reflections.
- Will other colleagues, dance professionals or parents be part of your "audience?"
- This is a great way to present yourself...As a reflective practitioner, you will continue to ask yourself how you can become more knowledgeable, and what it means to be "qualified?" This can be part of your reflections!
- "knowledgeable and qualified K-12 dance educator. I will include my experiences as a dance educator in the private studio setting and then eventually the public school setting. I would also like to present myself as an approachable resource to other dance educators. I would like to be open to communication and answering questions as well as collaboration."
- you will continue to decide and define in what ways you can make dance education and artistry more transparent to others, whether it be sharing models of dance learning, or posting experiences, health related tips, advocacy, etc. As you become more involved with the Honor Society and NDEO, you will experience a multitude of ways to make dance learning transparent and share how important it is. You have already taken a leadership role in the National Honor Society. This is something that should be on your resume as well.
