Context: 

In EDLIT 745 we had to complete a grant proposal assignment in which we requested funding that advocated for organizational and instructional changes to promote and support literacy instruction in students’ schools and communities.  

 

Reflection:

My grant proposal requested funding for a literacy professional to mentor early childhood educators in planning vocabulary instruction.  This request was influenced by the subjectivity of the teachers’ familiarity and comfort zone when creating and planning the curriculum.  In an effort to avoid teaching subjectivity, the literacy specialist would assure that all early childhood educators were promoting equity and providing vocabulary rich text experiences for all students.  The funding would also supply a wide variety of quality children’s literature.
