 Looking backward

  • Where do you come from?  hometown, family, cultural heritage, artistic discipline- I am from Staten Island New York, from the town of Annadale, where I grew up with my parents and two older brothers.
  • What influenced your decision to come to Hunter?                                               For me, it was a very hard process choosing a school. However, I ended up choosing Hunter College do its affordability, academic esteem, and influence in the arts.
  • What did you like to study inside and outside the classroom pre-college? Inside the classroom I always loved history, espcially studying pieces of propaganda. Outside the classroom I loved to study politics, often keeping up with political issues wihtin the United States but the world as a whole.
  • What artistic disciplines have you been involved with? How have you practiced them?  In what contexts? When I was growing up I took many art classes as a way to unleash my creativity. I have always had interest in paintings and interior designs however fiilm/photography has truly taken my focus in my adult years. I have practiced often with vintage cameras such as polaroids and black & white film, while at the same time perfecting the use of the modern day Iphone camera.
  • Where did you get your "art" experiences? I learned a lot about art and the power it has by looking through my late grandfathers collection. His collection of photographs allowed me to understand the man he was and made me feel as if I had the opportunity to grow up with him. Photography catches moments, memories, laughter and expression.
